WordPress Leeds – January 2020

Date: 28th January, 18:00
Location: Platform

Our monthly meetup for WordPress users, bloggers and developers.

We have one speaker this month with a longer talk than usual. Alongside that we’ll run ’roundtables’ where everyone gets the opportunity to ask questions about issues they might have.

Tim Nash – The weakest link in Security? You.
Most security talks spend a lot of time discussing websites, but ultimately the biggest squishy target is you, the developer, website owner or even just a slightly higher privileged than the normal user. In this talk, Tim is going to guide you through looking at your own online personal security and how to implement good security practices within your organisation to protect yourself and your website, customers data. Making you a lot less squishy.

πŸ€” How do roundtables work?

The room is divided into different tables or groups, each with a different topic. While the topics will be decided on the night, in the past we’ve discussed:
– Security
– Performance
– General questions/site issues
– Development and code
– Design

Pick a table and get involved with the discussion. Move tables, meet people; it’s a great time for finding answers and networking. There is something for everyone, be it your first time using WordPress to a seasoned developer.

If you have a specific site problem you would like help with, don’t forget to bring your laptop!

πŸ“£ Why not speak at a future event?

We are always looking for people to come and speak at our events. So if you have an idea for a talk, a discussion or just want to show folks what you have been working on, please get in touch. You don’t need to be a professional speaker or even to have spoken in a group before.

❓Request a talk

If you don’t want to do a talk, but are interested in hearing about a specific subject, or have an idea/problem, please get in touch and we will try and find someone who can help.
