The why, what, and how of blogging for new and inexperienced bloggers; common fears and how to overcome them; sharing what works for me as a WordPress user, useful apps and resources.

David: Career Coaching and People Development; self-employed and blogger since 2009 on employability, recruitability, and lifelong learning; author of ‘Learning to Leap, a Guide to Being More Employable’; included in many top 10 lists of Career Development Blogs to follow; guest blogs for many sites globally. www.learningtoleap.co.uk/blog

Docker x WordPress – Jaime Taylor
Docker makes complex stuff simple! Using a docker-compose file that I’ve stubbed out, you can spin up a WordPress development environment in 3 words “docker compose up” Gone is the complexity of setting up a local we server, reverse proxying, a database server, and all the chaff which comes with it. Three words! Couldn’t be simpler! It’s almost like magic.

Jaime: Jamie is a full stack .NET developer and DevOps engineer by day, but spends his free time learning all he can about the wonderful world of technology. When not building software at home, he’s usually producing his two podcasts (one about video games, and one about Japanese animation) or live streaming while writing code.

In addition, we will be having a break out area during Jaimes talk as it is quite technical for people to chat about any WordPress issues. Got a problem, or just a bit stuck on a concept? This is the perfect super friendly way to hopefully get your answer.

After the event, we will be heading to The Brewery Tap (http://www.brewerytapleeds.co.uk/) for further discussion and drinks.

Why not speak at our next event?

We are always looking for people to come and speak at our events. So if you have an idea for a talk, a discussion or just want to show folks what you have been working on, please get in touch. You don’t need to be a professional speaker or even to have spoken in a group before.

If you don’t want to do a talk, but are interested in hearing about a specific subject, or have an idea/problem, please get in touch and we will try and find someone who can help.
